INGREDIENTS

  • 400g smoked bacon, sliced
  • 300g smoked sausage, sliced
  • 500g pork ribs, separated
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 4 carrots, chopped
  • 400g potatoes, chopped
  • 1 beetroot, chopped
  • 100g dried mushrooms
  • 1 cabbage, large leaf reserved and the rest chopped
  • 400g sauerkraut
  • 500ml white beer
  • 300ml chicken stock
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

DIRECTIONS

  1. Line the inside of a large pot with the reserved cabbage leaf.

  2. Add the pork ribs to the pot and cover with half of the sauerkraut. Season with 1 tablespoon of black pepper.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the sliced bacon, smoked sausage, chopped potatoes, carrots, and beetroot.

  4. Add a handful of the sausage mixture to the pot, followed by the chopped cabbage. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.

  5. Continue layering the remaining sausage mixture, sauerkraut, carrots, and dried mushrooms in the pot, ensuring not to pack the ingredients too tightly.

  6. Pour the white beer and chicken stock into the pot.

  7. Cover the pot with the remaining cabbage leaf and close the lid.

  8. Cook the Pieczonki on low heat for 2 hours. Enjoy!

Notes

Use a large pot with a lid for cooking.
