INGREDIENTS

  • 2-3 lbs Beef
  • 6-8 slices American Cheese
  • 1.5 tbsp Kosher Salt
  • 1.5 tbsp Black Pepper
  • 1.5 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Mustard
  • 2 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 1.5 tsp Hot Sauce
  • 1 White Onion (large), thinly sliced
  • 1.5 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 2 oz Bourbon

DIRECTIONS

  1. Shape the ground beef into small squares, each weighing about ⅓ to 1/4 lb. Prepare the sauce by mixing together the ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and hot sauce. Refrigerate until needed.

  2. Melt butter in a skillet and sauté the thinly sliced white onions over medium heat for about 10 minutes until they start to brown. Add brown sugar and bourbon to the skillet, allowing the onions to simmer until they are soft. Remove from heat and set aside.

  3. Cook the patties in the same skillet for about 2 minutes on each side, or until they develop a caramelized crust. Break up the meat gently with your spatula, then flip the patties again. Top each patty with the sautéed onions and a slice of cheese.

  4. Assemble your patty melt by spreading a spoonful of the prepared sauce on a piece of toast, followed by 1-2 patties, and another dollop of sauce on a second piece of toast. Combine the two halves and serve. Enjoy!
